INM Apr '07 - What's New At Source Capital, You Ask?
Kenneth J. Gruneisen, Founder and Contributing Writer, www.CANSLIM.net
This month in INM the thing I want to do is put focus back on what the sub-title of this monthly column suggests as its subject matter - news including recent developments at the Lighthouse Point, Florida branch office of Source Capital Group.
There is a lot that goes on each day, and thankfully I have some great help in keeping up with the typical day to day handling of normal operations in our small office. Many of you have called our office and already spoken with Adam Sarhan. He can help you while maneuvering though the account-opening process, and on into matters concerning actionable items such as which stocks to buy or sell. Adam is a true professional who cares about the people he is helping – and those who get to know him notice that! I am proud to have him work with me to serve you. He and I are co-managing most new client accounts being opened in our branch. As a team, here in Lighthouse Point, we are able to provide Source Capital Group customers with a special level of personalized service that is absolutely unique and custom tailored.
Most of us have limitations on our time, yet we also have an objective to make ongoing improvements. In our case, this applies specifically to the professional capacity in which we serve our customers. Ultimately, this translates into news that I am presently studying the materials with plans to soon sit for the Series 86/87 Exam. This license is needed if you wish to meet the requirement for a “Research Analyst”. I already spend a lot of time researching and writing about individual stocks, so the additional qualification should only help. Meanwhile, Adam is preparing for the Series 66 Exam. This is because fee-based alternatives for our customers are being demanded; making the introduction of such options seem more and more compelling.
We’ve got bright plans for the future; meanwhile present business is going very well overall. We are continuing to build on the full-service brokerage arrangements we have with existing customers at Source Capital. The growth prospects for our business are, in many ways, stronger than ever before. We must be sure that we are ready and able to meet the challenges of serving you and an ever-growing group of customers. Meanwhile, we want those who are already on board with us to always know they are appreciated and being adequately cared for.
As a general rule, when we have action-worthy ideas and a market environment that appears to be particularly conducive to success, customers with cash available in their accounts are contacted and an appropriate number of shares of new buy recommendations will be suggested. During periods when there are not many compelling buy candidates meeting our criteria, sometimes we have to wait a while. You should never feel forgotten, but feel free to check in whenever you have any questions or concerns about your investment portfolio. Call if you have a need to discuss your present circumstances and you whenever you are in the midst of planning some smart moves toward achieving your investment objectives.
The input my team offers our customers is always from the CAN SLIM® investment system's perspective. Until we can offer a fund-like product or service that adequately addresses the many concerns I’ve expressed (in previous INM articles LINKS) about other fund-like approaches to the system, there is no “easy” option we can offer. The difficult truth to contend with is that each investor we work with gets a different result based on how, when, and to what degree they follow my team's suggestions to buy and sell individual stocks. Accounts are not discretionary and we do not have power of attorney to make decisions for our customers. Of course, we do stick to the system's sell rules!
Maybe you’ve seen the TV commercials for the office supply store (Staples) that has an “easy button” as one of the key props. That is a clever metaphor for how easy it is to make certain changes happen. But, the truth is, many investors have difficulty pushing the “buy” or “sell” button. So, this is one of the reasons my team stands ready assist those who are in need of expert guidance. Most of us don’t find ourselves in situations like contestants encounter on the popular game show, Deal Or No Deal, either.
You can accurately conclude the reality - some clients break even, some lose a little, a few (those who stray from the program and get reckless) lose a lot, and then some people actually make a lot of money. I wish for yours to be among our greatest client success stories, and I will be hoping we hear from you soon.
